The City Council and Hidrogea have launched a public awareness campaign whose purpose is to value the resource with the arrival of summer, when the population of the municipality triples (07/06/2018)

The municipality of Águilas has managed to improve its water saving figures in the last year thanks to the application of a novel system to search for leaks with helium gas, which adds to the already existing monitoring of the 200 km of networks through the that the water is distributed in the municipality.

This system allows to locate the leaks of the network in a short space of time, even before the water goes outside.

Although the data is very positive, both municipal managers and the company Hidrogea are still committed to the environmental education of citizens and have launched an awareness campaign for the population to make correct use of water right now that it arrives the summer and the population of the municipality triples.

The act of presentation of the campaign was held yesterday afternoon at the House of Culture Francisco Rabal, attended by different groups and had the assistance of a percussionist musician who makes his pieces with water bottles that Hidrogea is giving away to the population within this campaign.

As explained by Inmaculada Serrano, manager of Hidrogea, "with the campaign 'The value of water' is intended, in a very graphic, that users realize the amount of water they use in everyday gestures such as washing the dishes, brush your teeth, in a shower or pulling the chain. "

For his part, Tom Consentino, Councilor of New Technologies and Urbanism, said that "This campaign teaches the user to give water the value it really has, because it depends on agriculture, industry, employment ... Water is a 70% of the land, same percentage as in the human body, we must give it the value it deserves because ultimately water is our future. ".

The campaign, which also takes place at the regional level, consists of spots, graphics for printed media, radio spots and mupis.

The graphic design has as icon a bottle with different messages that show us the water we spend every time we open a tap.

During the event, other data were also offered, such as Hidrogea's commitment to clean energy, in this case thanks to the implementation of a technology that takes advantage of the pressure of the network and that is capable of generating annual energy consumption of 15 families, as well as saving 20,000 kg of CO2 into the atmosphere.
