The Mayor of Águilas, Mari Carmen Moreno Pérez accompanied by the mayor of Plazas y Mercados, Luís López Sánchez visited the Plaza de Abastos, coinciding with the inauguration of one of the last shops installed there.
A visit in which they could see first-hand the evolution experienced by this unique commercial space, on which actions have been undertaken aimed at enhancing the beauty of this property, with the exterior painting and the terrace of the north door, as well as the modernization of the same with the next implantation of the free Wifi network, circuit with led screens, piped music and video surveillance cameras.
The Plaza de Abastos will complete its activity with the next opening of a take-away and a show cooking, with which it will complete a commercial and gastronomic proposal that already contains two restaurants, a Cuban tavern, the Caseta del Lorito, the post of churros, trinkets and spices, cheeses and gourmet preserves, sewing workshop, artisans of Águilas and the classic fish stalls, butchers, salted fish and greengrocers.
In statements of the Councilman, the Plaza was in a situation of semi-abandonment, with some ordinances still in pesetas, which caused a huge rejection of clients and entrepreneurs.
Situation that has begun to be reversed with a more flexible and functional regulatory framework, as well as a change in the dynamics of the pleasures that allow changing the inertias of the last twenty years.
The Mayor of Águilas recalled that with the revitalization, "the Plaza de Abastos will recover the splendor of yesteryear, becoming a reference for the aquiline and visitors, who will find in it a varied and specialized commercial offer in a unique space".
In the same line, the mayor pointed out that with the enhancement of the Plaza de Abastos fulfillment of the commitment made with citizens in the government program with which he attended the elections.
