The most important day for men and women of the sea, the feast of the Virgen del Carmen, began yesterday with a Mass in the Lonja in which, as in previous years, the appointment of the new costaleros of the patron of fishermen.

The emotional act marked the beginning of a day that reached its most significant moment with the traditional maritime procession in which different boats of the fishing fleet of the town participated;

a traditional event attended by, among others, the mayor of Águilas, Mari Carmen Moreno, the government delegate in Murcia, Diego Conesa, and the senior employer of the Fishermen's Association, Domingo Díaz.
