Eagles incorporates the metrominuto to encourage the habit of walking (02/04/2019)

The metrominuto is a synoptic map or plane that measures distances between several points and the average times it takes to travel on foot through them;

a network of signage that since this week is part of the urban environment of Águilas with the objectives-pointed out the first mayor, Mari Carmen Moreno- "to promote the habit of walking, improve our health and make the population aware that distances are short and it's worth walking them instead of driving. "

The initiative, incorporated into the Walking Cities Network, which Águilas has been part of since last year, is aimed at improving accessibility, road safety and caring for the environment, since it invites citizens, under the motto better walking, to compare the time it takes to make your usual trips in vehicle and park it, with the time it would take to travel the same distance walking, thus favoring care for the environment and contributing to reduce CO2 emissions.

Miguel Martínez, technician in physical activity and sport sciences of the Department of Local Development, who has collaborated in the promotion of this action, stressed that "the metrominutos have been distributed throughout the city, including all schools and institutes of the locality, in order to promote habits against sedentary lifestyle among the youngest, in the same way, along with those installed in the form of signage in municipal buildings, marquees, 5,000 copies of pedestrian hand plans have been published.
