The City Council approves a motion to urge the Health Management to expand the physiotherapy service in Ãguilas with the votes against the PP (31/07/2019)

The Plenary Session of the City Council of Águilas approved yesterday, with the votes in favor of the PSOE, the abstentions of the two mayor of the Mixed Group, and the votes against the six councilors of the Popular Party, a motion to urge Area III of Health to expand the staff of the Eagles unit to two physiotherapists and a nursing assistant, as well as to study the opening of the unit in the afternoon to avoid saturation of the service and to replace the staff both during holiday periods and during free days.

In this sense, the mayor of the area, María Dolores García, described this initiative as "vital" taking into account the very long waiting list for this service, which as of July 8 had a waiting list of 312 patients, which it supposes "the dilation in the time of the beginning of the prescribed treatment, causing secondary problems to the pathology for which it is prescribed. Situation that is aggravated - continued the mayor - due to the fact that currently the personnel is not replaced even in their holiday periods or days off. "

After the plenary session, the mayor of Health was skeptical about the justification that the councilors of the Popular Party had given to vote against, claiming that the extension of the workforce will take place next September.

On this matter, García pointed out that "we would be glad to know that, as a result of knowing the motion we were going to present to the Plenary, the Area III management would have decided to provide that unit with a more full-time physiotherapist, but what What is strange to us is that, at the date of the Plenary, neither the Nursing Department of the Aguilas Norte Health Center, nor the workers of the unit know anything about it. In any case, he continued saying, we will be very aware of what happens on September 1 and as I said, we will be happy if this motion has served to improve the poor health service of our town. "

Finally, the Councilor for Health described as "totally out of place" the intervention of the PP spokeswoman in Aguilas comparing the waiting lists of patients who need to receive a physiotherapy treatment with the waiting lists for asphalting the streets or in administrative work.

"It is clear that the administration must act quickly in all its affairs, but we cannot forget that there are priority issues and there is no doubt that health is one of them; something that seems to be unclear about the Regional Government that takes years and years subjecting the aquiline and aquiline to a total sanitary precariousness ".
