The mayor of Mobility and Tourism, José Manuel Gálvez and Ginés Desiderio Navarro, presented this morning the events that have been organized by the City Council on the occasion of the European Mobility Week.
The European Mobility Week, of which the Ministry for Ecological Transition is a national coordinator, is a campaign aimed at sensitizing both the political leaders and citizens about the negative consequences of the irrational use of the car in the city, both for public health and for the environment, and the benefits of using more sustainable modes of transport such as public transport, cycling and walking trips.
Under the motto Walk and pedal safely!
Road education activities will be developed throughout the week in the educational centers with the objective of raising awareness among Primary students.
Also, the initiative "Metrominuto. Better walking" will be carried out on Tuesday 17 and Thursday 19, consisting of two guided walks through the Bay of Levante for which it will be necessary to register previously through the QR codes that can be found in Edited diptychs.
On Friday, September 20, from the City Council there is an appeal to go to work on foot or by bicycle and share it on social networks with the tags # SEMÁguilas2019 and #mobilityweek
Finally, on Sunday 22, coinciding with the European Day without Cars, several streets of the urban center will be cut to traffic from 8 to 16 hours to invite pedestrians and cyclists to travel through them and enjoy the different sociocultural activities proposed.
In the same way a cycling ride will be developed at the end of which two urban bicycles will be raffled.
