This week concludes the reforestation of the Virgen de Fátima park with more than 2,500 native plants (18/11/2019)

This week the reforestation works that are being carried out in the Virgen de Fátima park are concluded, as reported by the mayor of Zonas Verdes, Bartolo Hernández.

The action is being carried out on a plot of just over 11,000 square meters of irregular topography that was received by the City Council in the year 2,012.

On this matter, Hernández pointed out that "when this park was built, the weather conditions of Águilas were not taken into account; the then PP Government Team designed a park with large areas of grass and vegetation more typical of humid climates that logically , it is not viable in Águilas and, therefore, it has never been liked by the residents of the area. "

What is intended now, with the reforestation that is being carried out, is to create an area of native vegetation with which to set the slopes and avoid landslides and also have a minimum water consumption.

Specifically, 1400 asteriscum maritimus, 6 periplocas, 150 dorycniums, 190 ephedras fragilis, 150 rosemary, 150 salsolas, 380 lygeums spartums and 80 lentisks are being planted.

Likewise, the entire irrigation system has been replaced in order to make it more efficient and in the coming days the clearing of one of the park's slopes will take place.

An action with which the Government Team complies with citizen proposals included in the participatory budgets of the current year.
