The Diabetic Association gets fit (10/10/2016)

Moderate exercise is suitable for everyone, particularly if you have a disease with diabetes.

For this reason, the Diabetic Association of Eagles (ADIA) has started its Health Program, taught by Francisco Albarracín every Monday and Wednesday at the public school Las Lomas.

These fitness classes attended by thirty people, most diabetic, and others that are not.

At the opening of this edition of the program attended by councilors and Encarna Ruiz Vicente Navarro, who encouraged all participants to have fun while in care.

And it is that exercise is one of the ways of treating diabetes mellitus.

In fact, the program is aimed at controlling blood sugar, maintaining ideal weight, improve the quality of life and avoid the appearance of possible complications.

The president of the Association of Diabetics, Yolanda Gallego, said that "it is necessary to make every effort to diabetic patients play sports or engage in physical activity they want, given the multiple benefits that entails the exercise on diabetes. In Indeed, some of the participants in previous editions Health Program have commented that during the summer months in those who do this exercise increase your blood sugar levels. "

Exercise lowers blood glucose in several ways:

Insulin sensitivity is increased, so that cells can take over any available for use insulin while glucose and then makes physical activity.

When the muscles contract during the activity, a completely separate mechanism of insulin is stimulated.

This mechanism allows cells to take glucose and used as an energy source, regardless of whether insulin available.

So that exercise can help reduce blood glucose short term.

And if physical activity is done regularly, it may also decrease the A1C.

In addition to fitness classes, which are held every Monday and Wednesday at six p.m. in the CEIP Las Lomas, members of this Association, hiking trails make every Friday.

To participate in this and other free activities organized by ADIA just have to become a member.

Those interested can contact the Association at its headquarters, located at Calle Pilar, No. 4, or by calling 968 448 029.

During the inauguration of the Health Programme, the area director of Obra Social La Caixa delivered to the Association a check of 1,000 euros as a collaboration of this bank in the activities ADIA.
