AFEMAC presented the location and plans for the new headquarters of the Association of Relatives and Mentally Ill Eagles and Shire (14/10/2016)

Coinciding with the week in which the World Mental Health Day (October 10) celebrates the Association of Mentally Ill wanted to publicly show the plans and location of the new headquarters AFEMAC, they hope will be a reality in 2018. For the occasion, partners, employees and the president of this entity, Pilar Morales, have received the mayor of Eagle, Mari Carmen Moreno, the Minister of Family and Equal Opportunities, Violante Thomas, president of FEAFES, Delia Topham, and Territorial president of ONCE, Teresa Lajarín, along with other local and financial authorities and the architect of the project, Agustin Rodriguez, who explained the plans on what the new center.

"The building has been raised following the own of them needs, all on one floor, fully adapted, of course. It has also been well differentiated area workers, the Day Centre users, consisting of several classrooms , a multipurpose room and toilets adapted, always looking for functionality, "explained the architect and future director of the work.

AFEMAC president explained the reasons that led them to undertake this project and the obstacles they have had to overcome with the help of City Hall.

"Our current Centre we have become too small and it is our obligation and our decision to further expand resources to be able to cover the most of the needs of people with mental illness. For years, we had requested the City of Eagle a local or land in which to settle permanently. the newly released mayor, Maria Carmen Moreno, in his day, he did not hesitate and in February this year formalized the transfer to AFEMAC of this area we see. the joy of the great family AFEMAC was tremendous " Pilar Morales commented during his speech.

In the same vein, the mayor of Eagle, Mari Carmen Moreno, said that "AFEMAC has fought hard for this project. The City Council have worked with them to get unlock that transfer of land. It was one of the first decisions I made as mayor. it will be a magnificent center, as the work they do, it will serve to achieve the full inclusion of the mentally ill. This center will be a regional referent ".

Currently, the center AFEMAC Day serves 29 patients;

with the construction of the new center this number will be significantly increased, to 40 users.

RENEWAL OF THE CONVENTION

Besides the visit to the plot where the future Day Centre will be located, this morning the City of Eagle, Mapfre and AFEMAC Foundation have renewed their collaboration agreement, whereby this last year 14 members of the Association have made labor practices businesses and the City Council.

The mayor, Mari Carmen Moreno, the representative of Mapfre in the area, Antonio Vera Andreu, and the president of AFEMAC, Pilar Morales, have initialed the new document and have them delivered a certificate to the men and women who have worked through this synergy between the three entities.

To AFEMAC it is very important to involve the citizens of their work, making visible the situation of people with mental health problems and their families and take this opportunity to publicly vindicate the rights of this group.

So all week there have been various sports and leisure activities, as the party that played yesterday against the mentally ill councilors and the press, winning users AFEMAC by 9-8 goals.
