Glass recycling during the summer increased by 21% over the previous year (27/10/2016)

The mayor of Services Companies, Department of which depends on the cleaning of the town, Isabel Fernandez, yesterday received the award "Green igloo", a distinction for exceeding the township the number of glass recycling from the previous year .

The award, said the mayor, is really a recognition of the commitment of citizens and restaurateurs professionals glass recycling and sustainability.

During the ceremony, held in the Ministry of Water, Agriculture and Environment of Murcia, they were released data regarding the campaign Summer Plan 2016 launched by Ecovidrio, the nonprofit organization responsible for the recycling of waste glass containers in Spain, and the City of Eagle and has managed to recycle 188,800 kilograms of glass during the months of July and August, 21% more than in the same period last year.

In this edition, a total of 108 catering establishments have collaborated Eagles, an important fact given the influence of the hospitality industry, which generates 50% of glass packaging waste a single use.

In addition, the summer is vital for the recycling of glass by high levels of consumption that is generated from this type of packaging.

The results were achieved thanks to the awareness campaign and provision of facilities aimed at catering professionals.

Under the Summer Plan, they have given 20 cubes tailored to the needs of the hoteliers professionals.

Also, the frequency of glass collection was expanded to properly manage the high influx of visitors and increased activity in the hotel sector and decorated with special vinyl containers locally.
