The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia, in collaboration with the Police National Police of Lorca, has developed an investigation aimed at clarifying some facts related to mistreatment of domestic animals in Aguilas, which has been solved with the investigation of two neighbors of the Locality to which they have been instructed measures like presumed authors of crime relative to the protection of the domestic animals (animal mistreatment), for firing against a domestic cat to which the impacts of projectiles caused him chronic injuries.
The investigation began as a result of a complaint lodged at the National Police Station of Lorca in which it showed an aggression with a compressed air gun against a domestic animal in the town of Águilas.

The cat was found by its owners agonizing in the middle of the road, where it was immobile by the incapacitation produced by the shot, which also implied to have been exposed to the outrage of some vehicle.
In spite of the considerable economic effort on the part of its owners, who immediately referred it to a veterinary service where it was urgently operated and is being subjected to various treatments to recover mobility, the animal continues to suffer paralysis that prevents it from moving normally, to The time that shows scary and nervous in the company of the people, which did not happen before the aggression.
Thanks to the public collaboration, the Municipal Veterinary Service of Eagles and the valuable information provided by both the owner of the animal and the efforts made by the National Police Corps of Lorca, the Civil Protection Service of Nature has identified To those alleged to have been responsible for the injuries caused to the cat, to which investigations have been carried out as suspected perpetrators of a crime concerning the protection of domestic animals (animal abuse).
The Spanish investigators, aged 60 and 34 and residents of Águilas, along with the investigations, have been placed at the disposal of the Court of Instruction of Lorca (Murcia).
The crime of animal abuse
The crime related to the protection of domestic animals (animal abuse) is included in the Penal Code, which defines it as unjustifiably mistreating animals, by any means or procedure, causing injuries that seriously impair their health or Death and is punished with sentences of three to eighteen months imprisonment and special disqualification from one to four years for the exercise of profession, trade or commerce that relates to animals and to the possession of animals.
