The mayor of Aguilas, Mari Carmen Moreno, has supervised this morning along with the Minister of Fomento and Infraestructuras, Pedro Rivera, the completion of the works of the RM-D14 road linking Eagles with Calabardina and El Garrobillo.

The works, which have involved an investment of 584,000 euros, have been carried out in order to increase the road safety of the more than 1.7 million drivers that circulate annually through this route, being mostly heavy vehicles that Daily travel to the agricultural areas, farmers in the area, the neighbors of La Marina and El Garrobillo and visitors who access it through the AP-7 motorway.

The works consisted in the extension of a layer of bituminous mixture to provide more regularity to the firm in a section of 12,1 kilometers of the track, that was very deteriorated by the use and presented cracks and bumps in different sections of the via.

Also, the ditches and supporting slopes of the road have been rebuilt, which were heavily eroded and even destroyed by the damages caused by the torrential rains of 2012. Prior to these works, the margins and gutters have been cleaned and profiled To recover the drainage functionality of the same.

In other cases, the gutters have been covered with concrete to prevent the development of weeds and weeds that prevent visibility.

Once these works are completed, vertical signage will be renewed, which, over time, has lost reflectance and visibility, as well as horizontal signaling with the repainting of islets, curbs, zebrates and other elements in islets and roundabouts.
