Águilas will be the only coastal municipality in the Region of Murcia through which the Eurovelous Route runs;
a European cyclist circuit of more than 70,000 kilometers that on route 8 runs between Nicosia (Cyprus) and Cádiz, crossing the Region of Murcia and the municipality of Águilas.
The mayor of Tourism, Ginés Desiderio Navarro, recently announced that the City of Águilas, together with the Tourism Institute of the Region of Murcia and the Green Ways Council, is already working on this project that "is not only a sport route, but also tourism and economic development of those places where it runs since in them the cyclists are housed, loaded supplies and make repairs to their bicycles.
The itinerary is built on already existing routes or through very little invasive actions of compaction and leveling of the land since the objective is to avoid the environmental impact in an environment that I travel in spaces of high landscape or historical value.
Later, said the mayor, proceed to homogenize the signaling and finally to develop guides and manuals offering a series of complementary services that allow easy travel of the route by interested cyclists.
