Interview Pedro Hurtado (03/11/2010)

Pedro Antonio Rodriguez Hurtado. Born in 1969 in Eagles. My father and his influence is aquiline. Not so my mother, who is Andalusian, Jaén. I am the seventh of 9 siblings, a fact that leaves a strong impression, I love being with people!

Laughing with friends is what most stimulates my creativity.

At age 17 I moved to Murcia, where I finished high school studies. They entered the School of Art where I studied Graphic Design. In 1996, I majored in a Higher Grade course Enlightenment, which was provided by first time in Spain, where I finished at the top of my class. The Final Year Project was just "The Illustrated History of Eagles."

I've drawn since I have memories. I've never scratched my mother's couch, nor have defaced the walls of my home, as do normal children. I did my profs cartoons, as "good" I threw a season school, with the consequent anger of my parents ... but they escaped a smile.

My passion for history, I come to see "Once Upon a Time Man." I was absolutely captivated by the idea of combining the picture with the message, and history is a potosí stories, each more interesting. There I realized what it means teaching: learning to enjoy, great!

That concept has always haunted me. During the study of art, in a gathering with friends at the Café then Dakota, Eagles, asked about the time of the Eagles lifted the castle. There were three responses, all different and no successful . Me resultó irresistible averiguarlo al siguiente days. Había nacido the "Historia Ilustrada of Águilas"

This work marked the starting point for a series that I created on his own initiative, called "An Illustrated History Series ..." (SHI), which reflects the educational structure and method of work with other municipalities of similar population size to that of Eagles as Yecla, Jumilla, Baza, Guadix, Vera, Adra, etc.. After 10 years and 10 degrees, close the circle with the work, if not definitive, if very complete, the entire history of Eagles. There must have been easy to find as what information about Eagles.

What has been based material to go back to the prehistory of the area?

The material I've used have been books written by Felipe Palacios, Enrique Fernández Bolea and invaluable scientific advice, in an altruistic way has given me Juan de Dios Hernández, municipal archaeologist Eagles. I also have a file itself, with case Prehistory of the Southeast, works of Luis Siret, among other items that are being published in journals.

This is not a book to use, how would you define "Illustrated History of Eagles?

This is strictly a history book, with which you can see the history of Eagles while you enjoy and learn. I am not a historian or archaeologist, but a communicator, a researcher and a passion for history. This book is defined as a vibrant virtual tour through the history of Eagles. What I bring as a new teaching is the way I present the information. Today, and increasingly, cognitive language best understood is the image.

What audience is it directed?

This book is designed for the disclosure of genuinely interesting, at the same time unknown, historical heritage of the town of Aguilas. So I was born with the intention to publicize his story and put it in value. As I see it, is equally important that a child knows his immediate entormo and learn to estimate it, as any adult would feel proud to belong to this community. We should not neglect the opportunity to provide a cultural resource for tourists. It fits perfectly with all audiences.

Chose chapters recount by distinct, what is the reason?

Although history someone defined as a sequence of events that occur on, you can not move the reader as it is, as it would be boring and monotonous. As in film, literature or theater, it should be structured in a is content to tell or show. Historians do with the prehistoric, ancient, Renaissance, etc. What I have done with the history of Eagles has been set, with graphic snapshots, or the relevant periods of splendor that marked somehow the development of its urban setting

Was it difficult to publish your first book?

Yes. So I did not have your own computer, I had to "rent" (price of gold) for another person to lay out the chapters and insert text. Also borrowed money for the press, something not easy when you have work to endorse your initiative. Then you realize how important it is to have friends like Daniel Gray, Bookseller Manuel Gray, who believed in the book from the beginning and has sold very well.

What are you working on now?

Now I am engaged in several projects simultaneously, some as a collaborator, since I need to do new things, especially in the multimedia field, and related to history. Perhaps the more fundamental is the history of Cartagena, which is a lot of responsibility but soon will the Eagles history DVD interactive community-focused school ... and some other surprise is cooking.
