Eagles II launches Road Safety Campaign to encourage helmet use (03/11/2011)

The initiative was presented today at the Consistory aquiline, with the mayor of Eagles and the Minister of the Presidency.

Today Thursday, November 3, took place in the Consistory aguileño a press conference in which he has presented the Second Road Safety Campaign aimed at encouraging the use of helmets in the municipality.

The presentation ceremony was performed by the mayor of Eagle, Bartolomé Hernández Giménez, the Minister of the Presidency of the Region of Murcia, Manuel Campos, the council of Traffic and Public Safety, Francisco Clemente, and the local police sergeant, Joseph Luis Sanchez.

As reported by the authorities present at the event, is the second local initiative designed to promote helmet use among citizens duly approved, since previously the City of Eagles gave 500 helmets through a transfer agreement drivers of motorcycles and mopeds, conditioned on the proper use and respect for traffic rules.

On this occasion, the Department of Traffic and Public Safety of the City of Eagle starts from today and until December 31, 2012, a new "Renewal Plan" raised the same objectives as above and being his voluntary membership .

"

In this regard, the regional executive actions are aimed at comprehensive protection of drivers and users of the road network in the Region of Murcia through the installation of elements that reduce accident rates.

Thus, the Ministry of the Presidency, through the Public Safety Plan has provided since 2006 over 2.4 million to strengthen the personal and local materials.

Claims

In the first nine months of this year, a total of 198 motorcycle riders have been killed in different road types of the national territory, of which seven did so in the Region of Murcia, four roads and three on the way urban areas.

Campos said that this figure shows that the trend of accidents in the group of riders is decreasing in the Community since 2007, the year 23 died on the asphalt motorcycle, although he added that we must continue taking steps to reduce the consequences of such accidents.

Most accidents on urban roads, Campos said, are the result of a collision or fronto-lateral between a motorcycle and a passenger as a result of a violation, like speeding, failing to respect the safety distance between vehicles, and driving under the influence of alcohol.
