The aldermen of Health and Education accompanied the students on their visit.

Elementary students from different schools in the town today visited the premises of the Columbine Association for the Protection of Animals and Plants (AGUIPROAN) within the school program "Coastal eco-schools" developed by the Department of Education and the Club Nautico de Aguilas.

During the visit, the students were accompanied by their monitors and the mayors of Health, Ana Maria Miñarro, and Education, Francisco Clemente, as well as the technical director and manager of the Yacht Club, Pedro Juan Perez and Jose Maria Martinez Castejón , respectively.

After the tour of the facilities, Councillor of Education has indicated that "one of the main objectives of this activity is to educate children about responsible pet ownership and to combat the abandonment of animals, since they are much more than entertainment and not be left forgotten when we get tired of them.

As explained the president of AGUIPROAN, Maria Luisa Mataix, this association has volunteers who work selflessly, with its main purpose to defend the lives of animals, among which are mostly dogs and cats, treating them sanitary, housing them and looking for a foster home.

The "Coastal Ecoescuela" seeks to foster in students a curiosity about their identity and appreciate the importance of core values that enrich the Eagles, its coastline and its diversity, to act with respect by understanding the environment in which we live.

Among the purposes of "eco-schools Coastlines" is also to know the natural heritage through visits to points of special interest and sailing, making an approach to the environment and society, developing a caring attitude and respect for the exercise of this right.

The methodology used in these extracurricular activities allows students to learn while having fun by attending guided tours, workshops and excursions, which are complemented by educational work within the school.
