Joint Proposal to grant a street name to Bartholomew Roldan Eagles (22/10/2013)

All local political groups represented in the City of Eagle (PP, PSOE and Mixed), have signed a joint proposal that will lead to regular full month of October, which will be asked to give the name of a street town Bartholomew Roldan, former skipper "Dorita" that the January 17, 1966 rescued two U.S. Army pilots, Captain Charles F.

Wendorf and Lt. Michael J.

Rooney, after the famous crash of Palomares.

Recalling the events of that time, it should be noted that "Dorothy" was out with four other sailors to fish at dawn.

Bartholomew continued his life working and today, now retired, recalls with aplomb its serenity, and the avalanche of names of journalists and entertainments.

But that failed at any time to change your mood good man, helpful and careful with it has always been and known.

On January 3, to be fulfilled 47 years of the accident and 86 years old, Bartholomew Roldan received the homage of his city, during an event held in the Auditorium and Congress Palace "Infanta Elena".

The U.S. apologized for not having thanked his action before and Bartholomew said that "if this had exploded would not be there."

Bartholomew never tired of repeating that he had done nothing he had not done any other person and for that reason never asked to be recognized.

For all the above, the full City Council Eagles agreed unanimously to call a city street with the name of Bartholomew Roldan, to pay tribute and express appreciation for the courage shown in the events described above.
