Last night was presented to a packed House of Culture "Francisco Rabal," the new reprint of the novel of manners "Rambla down" by José María García Campoy, a text that the author presented in 1968 to award City of Murcia, under the slogan "Agreste".
The event, attended by various local authorities and numerous guests, was given by the mayor of Eagle, Bartolomé Hernández Giménez, accompanied by Juan Ramón Jiménez López Méndez and Madrid, as well as by Francisco Miguel Martínez Haro, Councillor for Culture, and José María Campoy Camacho, coordinator of the book and nephew of the writer.
During the presentation, the speakers recalled that Campoy Camacho, former mayor of Lorca, this novel included in the book of 530 pages "polyhedral Anthology" published in 2009.
A year later, it was reissued in standalone format and with a limited edition of three hundred copies, and in 2011, where another small series was published.
In view of its high demand in this 2014 comes out a new roll of hundred copies, sponsored by the Department of Culture and Heritage of the City of Eagle and the company Pozo Sur.
"Rambla down" is set in the hamlet of Columbine "La Cuesta de Gos" and tells the story of three generations of the same family, between the nineteenth century and the Spanish Civil War, showing well-known figures in this rural area, as is family of "the Garden".
Eagles Mayor expressed his hope that this reissue will serve to bring the novel to most people and they know the history of the lands of "La Cuesta de Gos," which had a huge mining activity during the early part of the twentieth century how the economy turned to the abandonment of this activity, with subsequent holding area and what we now call traditional agriculture.
