On the initiative of IU-Green Eagles City Council approves a motion on behalf of farmworkers (03/03/2015)

At the regular meeting of the Municipal Council of February, the three groups represented passed a motion in defense of labor rights of workers in the food industry Murcia.

This initiative was driven by the Councillor for IU-Green, María Isabel Torrente, who had participated in the weeks before regional mobilization against precarious work in the field.

The Popular Party government has always done flag orchard rich region, one of the most prosperous in Spain and enjoys prestige in domestic and international markets and is a strategic sector in the regional economy.

This is the image we sell our rulers, but the reality is that the industry increasingly feels abandoned by the responsible authorities, which have implemented ultra-liberal policies.

In this context, the most affected are the workers / as the field, which have seen their precarious work has gone up to conditions of slavery (cases of people working in shifts of up to 10 hours for less than 30 euros are given ).

According CCOO union denounces the current situation of the workers of the field in our region violates his rights to:

Excessive hours involving 10 hours of work a day throughout the week.

Breach of wage established by convention, be paid by the piece where prohibited by law.

No state or traded every day worked to Social Security.

This is the precarious situation in which thousands of people work in our region.

Therefore, from United Left-Greens urge Eagles, along with the other forces represented in the City Council, to take sufficient measures to enforce the Convention Sector through inspections and ensure the development of decent work based on respect the rights of the working class of the field in the region.

Izquierda Unida in your daily struggle.
