Local Police joins the Campaign Safety Belt Use (12/02/2009)

The Department of Public Safety of the City of Eagle, through the Local Police, has joined the Campaign for Safety Belt Use.

Until February 22, there will be traffic control on urban roads in the municipality so from the local police has asked all citizens of collaboration and respect for traffic rules, while they wanted to remember that :

The correct use of seat belts reduce by half the risk of death in an accident.

Is useful in any short or long trip, urban and interurban, in all seats in the rear.

Protects both thrown from the car, as hitting the windshield.

The airbag does not replace the belt.

It is the ideal complement, as both elements are designed to work together.

At 80 miles per hour, a collision without wearing a seatbelt, often fatally rigged lead to death or serious injury.

The belt reaches maximum effectiveness in rollovers, which is reduced by 77% the risk of death.

A passenger on about 50 kilos in weight, traveling in the back seat of a vehicle at 50 km / h, can produce a force of 3,000 kilos in its movement over the front seat.

So no use in rear seats is a big risk not only for those passengers, but also for the front, which can be crushed by those behind.

It is also useful in case of fire or immersion at avoiding the blows that could knock out the occupants.

A child without holding multiplied by 5 as likely to suffer fatal injuries.

Nine out of ten serious or fatal injuries to children could be avoided if you always use this type of device.

Children under 12 must wear appropriate restraints when riding in any seat of a car.
