AVA 1,500 silkworms distributed among 150 children of Eagles (22/04/2010)

Approximately 1,500 silkworms Neighborhood Association distributed free of charge AVA-Foro Aquilegia Eagles among the more than 150 children who attended the original aquiline event organized by the Association cited in the Plaza de Gutiérrez Mellado of that coastal town.

The deal, which lasted for an hour and a half, immediately caught the attention of children and their interest in actively participating to know that Murcia typical tradition, now largely disused but during the last century was an important crop for the poor economy of many families in the region.

The children could learn through the entire process AVA breeding and development of the worm, from the larval stage, until the formation of the cocoon and transforming into a butterfly.

Worms were raised by the Band itself Neighborhood Aquilegia, which also provided nearly a hundred boxes made by partners and collected several kilos of mulberry leaves as food.

The event had the cooperation of the cafe 'Bisou' and with the participation of 'Karate Dojo Club' whose twenty-five pupils and their teacher or 'sensei' Juan Hernandez went in uniform to make a colorful display of martial arts to the general expectation , before picking up his worms.

AVA initiative, which aroused the interest subject of one of the programs broadcast live regional station Onda Regional de Murcia, sought to disseminate through the breeding of worms in the domestic environment, knowledge of tasks typical of Murcia, while promoting the most children and their families respect for the environment and caring nature.
