The Águilas City Council (Murcia) and the Association of Families and People with Mental Illness of Águilas y Comarca (AFEMAC) today renewed their collaboration agreement to participate in the Juntos Somos Capaces program, promoted by Fundación MAPFRE with the aim of contributing to the labor insertion of young people with intellectual disability and mental illness.

Thanks to this agreement, six AFEMAC users will practice for one year in the town hall, an opportunity for these people, at risk of social exclusion and in situations of long-term unemployment, to receive real training, directly at the workplace , which will allow them to acquire skills and experience in the tasks of the different dependencies of the Consistory.

They will also receive the necessary support from AFEMAC professionals.

Since its creation, eight years ago, the Juntos Somos Capaces program has enabled more than 4,400 companies to collaborate actively with the program, which has facilitated the insertion of more than 2,900 people with intellectual disabilities and mental illness.

The City Council of Águilas has continuously demonstrated its great commitment to the most vulnerable people, supporting different actions in favor of them, both in the workplace, as in housing, education, food or health.

For its part, AFEMAC carries out different psychosocial rehabilitation programs, support and support in the community with the aim of contributing to the social integration and work and personal autonomy of its nearly 30 users.

The event was attended by Mari Carmen Moreno, mayor of Águilas City Council;

Pilar Morales, president of AFEMAC;

and Antonio Vera, representative of Fundación MAPFRE in the area.
