In relation to the information appearing on the complaint lodged against the mayor of Águilas, Mari Carmen Moreno, by the former municipal official Silvestre Martínez Morote linked to a supposed simulation of legality in a selective process of competition-opposition: the Águilas City Council wants to put I state that the aforementioned complaint, filed before the prosecutor's office by Silvestre Martínez Morote, was filed on March 27 by the superior prosecutor of the Region of Murcia when he did not find this evidence of illegality in the process.

Thus, the prosecutor in charge of this case understands that there is no evidence of an offense or in the drafting of the bases of the competition-opposition or in the development of the same and that, therefore, the challenge made by the former official Silvestre Martínez Morote lacks any legal effect and its file is decreed "on having understood that the denounced facts would not be constituent of criminal infraction".

The first aquiline mayor regrets some facts that have led to question not only his honor but also that of the institution he represents and that of the officials in charge of drafting the bases of the opposition;

something that - in the opinion of the mayor- "is motivated by the City Council's refusal to extend the working life of the official Silvestre Martínez Morote once the retirement age of the same has been exceeded in two years".

Regarding the opposition contest, Moreno has stated that the process has been carried out with total "legality and transparency and, in addition, it has not been an exceptional case".

The mayor also explained that his spouse has been working at the City Council since 2000 as a local development agent and since 2004 occupying the position of middle technician of Economic-Financial Management and Urban Development, created under a government of the president presided over by Juan Ramírez Soto, and who is part of the group of 23 interns who during this term will consolidate their employment through a procedure similar to the one that has been carried out with the middle technical position of Economic-Financial Management and Urban Development.

The current mayor became part of the Municipal Corporation for the first time in the year 2007 as councilor of the opposition.

Also, the mayor of the town has announced that the legal services are currently studying the legal measures that will interpose against the former municipal official Silvestre Martínez Morote as well as anyone who spreads false facts, as has been made clear by the Public Prosecutor of the Community Autonomous Region of Murcia, considering them an attack on the honor and the image of the mayor and his family.
