The City Council of Águilas continues with its educational program on the importance of caring for and maintaining the oceanic posidonia.
The initiative, developed by the Department of Local Development and Training, was carried out last month in all primary schools in the town and today has begun in the secondary education.
The mayor of Águilas, Mari Carmen Moreno, who has attended one of the lectures given at IES Europe today, highlighted the importance of developing this project in Águilas, a municipality in which "this marine plant is widely distributed in Our coasts, despite being highly threatened, the objective, therefore, is that the younger ones know that what we popularly know as algae is not trash, but rather the opposite, as they indicate the good quality of our waters ".
It should be noted that the project has been developed by the pedagogue María José García and the biologist Marina Candela Sánchez.
Both are participants in the Public Employment Program "Strengthening the service of economic development and training of the City of Águilas" aimed at young beneficiaries of Youth Guarantee and co-financed by the Autonomous Community, the European Social Fund and the City of Águilas.
