The mayor of Águilas and mayor of Agriculture, Mari Carmen Moreno, and the mayor of Environment, Isabel María Torrente, visited, accompanied by various municipal technicians and entrepreneurs from the local agricultural sector, the Campojoyma company in Almería to learn firsthand about the management of plant waste carried out by the company.
Campojoyma, an organic farming company that will settle in Águilas in the coming months, is characterized by developing a production without pesticides and, in addition, by generating "zero waste" within the farms as, the mayor said after the visit, "the remains of the crops and surplus production are converted into compost through a composting system located in the plantation itself. "
On this matter Moreno said that "the main objective of this type of waste management is to end the burnings and all the inconveniences that these involve".
To conclude, the mayor and mayor of Agriculture said that "the factory that Campojoyma will open in a few months in Aguilas will also have its own waste plant that will be composted and introduced into the crops again." Moreno continued, "in this visit We have been accompanied by different agrarian entrepreneurs from the locality so that they can extrapolate to their companies the treatment of waste that is done here in order to end the burning.
