guilas has been one of the 80 municipalities in Spain and Portugal selected to be part of the Mares Circulares program of the Chelonia association, in collaboration with the Coca Cola Foundation and the universities of Madrid, Valencia and Cdiz.
The objective of the project is to contribute to the reduction of impacts of marine litter, driving the shift towards a circular economy (which seeks to maintain the value of products and resources as long as possible within the economy, minimizing the generation of waste) in Spain and Portugal.
To achieve this, the evaluation and monitoring of macro-wastes will be carried out in 80 beaches on the Spanish and Portuguese coast, including the aquiline beach of La Carolina.
Subsequently, a training and awareness-raising activity will be developed for secondary school students and, finally, a clean-up campaign with the collaboration of municipal entities and local educational organizations and institutions.
