"Just over 41,300 people have spent this summer in the traditional Plaza de Antonio Cortijos, a figure significantly higher than last year and that has exceeded expectations."
With these words began the press conference offered this morning by the mayor of the town, Mari Carmen Moreno, and the mayor of Festejos, Encarna Navarro, to take stock of the summer schedule of the Department of Celebrations.
In the assessment for months, last July there were a total of 16,300 people who enjoyed the shows offered in the traditional Pista;
an area that throughout the month hosted 21 shows of which nine were free and five to benefit various associations in the town (Aguiproan, Alzheimer Association, Rociera Brotherhood, Centennial Association and Paso Morado).
In the month of August and the first weekend of September, the number of visitors to Antonio Cortijos rose to 25,000, divided into 28 days in which the venue opened its doors.
In this month, a total of eight free acts and other eight charitable acts were developed (Red Cross, Hospitality of Lourdes, Aguiproan, Hogar Betania, Urci Occupational Center, Asteamur, Active Life and three women's sports clubs).
With regard to the great concerts held, the mayor of the town said that "both Niña Pastori, Antonio Orozco, Rozalén, Andrés Suarez and Pablo Milanés have significantly exceeded the attendance forecasts."
Before finalizing, both the mayor and the mayor of Culture wanted to emphasize that, despite the initial uncertainty, the square of Antonio Cortijos, traditional site of the festivities in summer season, has worked with total normality and proof of this are the most of 41,300 people who have been enjoying this summer in it.
To conclude, both councilors have shown their gratitude to "all the people who have participated in some festivities - has qualified the mayor - scheduled for all tastes and ages."
