"Although this action will significantly increase water treatment capacity, what Águilas really needs is a new treatment plant located outside the urban area, and that is what we will continue to demand from the Ministry. the City Council has already projected in the new General Plan what could be its ideal location ".
These are the words of the mayor of Águilas, Mari Carmen Moreno, at the end of a visit, together with the Minister of Water, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Miguel Ángel del Amor, and the managing director of the Sanitation and Purification Entity of Wastewater from the Region of Murcia, Joaquín Ruiz, to the sewage treatment plant.
The three leaders visited these facilities to know the details of the action that will be carried out during this year in order to double the capacity of tertiary treatment at the station.
Specifically, the compartmentation of the regulation tank of the existing Biological Membrane Reactor will be carried out, which will allow it to reach up to 3,600 cubic meters per day, compared to the current 1,800;
an action with a term of execution of three months and a base bidding budget of 336,173.86 euros.
Before concluding, Moreno wanted to remember that "the Águilas treatment plant is the oldest in the Region of Murcia and was built with exclusively municipal funds."
