The energy consumption of Águilas will be reduced by 80.33% and the emission of 3,144.39 tons of CO2 per year, the equivalent of planting 80,625 trees in the city, will be avoided.
These are two of the benefits of the new energy management contract of the City Council, which is committed to the use of energy resources to make Águilas a more livable, ecological and sustainable city.
The new contract for "Supply and energy service of the city and maintenance of street lighting", awarded to Ferrovial Services and which came into force on September 1, will also involve the modernization and improvement of aspects such as public lighting ( will be changed to LED technology most of the nearly 8,702 points of light in the city), the renewal and adaptation to the regulations of the 116 command centers, the replacement of 130 staffs and the improvement of the lighting of different decorative fountains and monuments such as the Castillo de Águilas;
actions that will involve an investment by the company awarded the service of just over four million euros.
In addition, a remote management system will be installed in the facilities and public assets from which measurements of energy consumption will be obtained in real time, it will be possible to manage the switching on and off of the luminaire circuits of each panel and, also, to know the status of the luminaires, as well as the state of the network and the hours of operation.
Mari Carmen Moreno, mayor of Águilas, has had an impact on the benefits that a more efficient management brings to the city.
"This new contract will mean a major environmental benefit for Águilas and, fundamentally, modernization throughout the electrical system."
