Coinciding with the commemoration of the World Mental Health Day, the Association of Families and People with Mental Illness of Águilas y Comarca (Afemac) organized a program of activities at the Francisco Rabal House of Culture in which they were present, the Mayoress of the town, Mari Carmen Moreno, along with other members of the municipal Corporation, and the president of Afemac, Pilar Morales.
The day began with the signing of the collaboration agreement between Afemac, the City Council and the Mapfre Foundation to participate in the Juntos Somos Capaces program, promoted by Fundación MAPFRE with the aim of contributing to the employment of young people with intellectual disabilities and mental illness.
Thanks to this agreement, six AFEMAC users will practice for one year in the town hall, an opportunity for these people, at risk of social exclusion and in situations of long-term unemployment, to receive real training, directly at the workplace , which will allow them to acquire skills and experience in the tasks of the different dependencies of the Consistory
Subsequently, the institutional manifesto was read by three users of the center;
a manifesto that this year put the accent on inclusive education as a way to normalize mental health problems in our society.
To conclude the inauguration of the pictorial exhibition "A look at mental health" of the aquiline Andrés de la Roche;
a sample that will remain in the House of Culture until October 19.
