The headquarters in Águilas of the Down Syndrome Foundation of the Region of Murcia (Fundown) has received on Wednesday the visit of Carrefour volunteers to assist in the reconditioning of the premises.
An initiative born by the multinational chain, with the aim of making other social realities known through the participation of the company's employees in different projects.
Under the program 'The Day of Good People', employees of Carrefour Águilas and Lorca have helped users and workers of Fundown to improve their facilities in Águilas, doing DIY tasks and painting the walls of a common space, in a day that has served to promote the inclusion and integration of people with intellectual disabilities.
The initiative was attended by Pedro Martínez, manager of Fundown, Jaime Orquín, manager of Carrefour Águilas, Nuria Álvarez, manager of Carrefour Lorca, and Fernando Díez, responsible for HR of Carrefour Águilas and Lorca.
Within this day of national scope, Fundown has received the support of Carrefour thanks to his work for more than 20 years working for the full integration of people with intellectual disabilities.
In the different programs developed by the foundation, an average of 250 people participate each month, who are offered a custom-made insertion itinerary.
Through these, social and training needs are studied and the necessary knowledge and supports are provided to facilitate their integration through standardization.
