Representatives from cities in Portugal, Latvia and Spain have participated since yesterday in a day of coordination and monitoring of the Life Adaptation Project to adapt to climate change.
For two days the partner municipalities of this European project are getting to know first-hand the pilot project with which Águilas participates in this program.
The Life Adaptate Program includes 6 pilot actions to adapt to climate change, one of which will be developed in Águilas with the creation of a green area, whose irrigation will be carried out with purified water, taking place the impulsion and distribution of the same by means of energy photovoltaic
It also includes the commitment of the participating municipalities to carry out the measures of the Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy, specifically the preparation and implementation of a Plan of Action for Climate and Sustainable Energy (PACES) that addresses both the mitigation such as adaptation to climate before 2030. The main objective of Life Adaptate is to contribute to the improvement of policies and legislation related to mitigation and adaptation to climate change in the European Union.
In particular, the process of design and implementation of local adaptation policies and the design of specific actions in each municipality attending to the challenges that arise.
The Life Adaptate Program includes measures to transfer procedures, results and good practices to other municipalities of the European Union, in order to create a network of localities and actions that contribute to mitigation and adaptation to Climate Change.
