The City of Águilas, through the Department of Public Safety, has activated a Special Plan for the risk of flooding in the Region of Murcia as a result of the warning of adverse weather phenomenon, orange level, by heavy rains by the State Agency of Meteorology (Aemet).
It is alerted of precipitations of up to 40 liters per square meter in Águilas this Saturday and up to 20 liters in the rest of the Region.
The purpose of the pre-emergency phase is to alert the services that may be involved in the resolution of emergencies caused by rain.
To this end, a meeting was held at the Águilas City Council, in which the mayor of Citizen Security and the mayor of the town, Mari Carmen Moreno, participated together with the Town Councilors and Services Providers, Tomás Consentino and Isabel Fernández , and several municipal technicians, as well as representatives of Civil Protection, Local Police, Fire and Red Cross.
"Coordination is fundamental to offer an immediate response for what is in that line that is being worked on", Moreno assured.
For all this, the Aguileño Consistory, through the Municipal Emergency and Civil Protection Service, in anticipation of the rains that could be caused in Águilas, the following tips are offered to the population:
Periodically check your roof and water drops and eliminate all accumulation of debris, leaves, soil, etc., that may hinder the passage of water to the sewer, ditch or ditch near your home.
Remove from the exterior of the house those objects that may be dragged by the water.
If you have to leave your home, disconnect electricity, gas and water.
Do not touch electrical appliances if they are wet.
Do not park vehicles or camp in dry riverbeds, or in wadis, to avoid being surprised by a sudden flood of water or a flood.
Never cross sections that are flooded with your vehicle, since the force of the water can drag you off the road.
Stay permanently informed, through radio and other media, of weather forecasts and the status of the situation.
In case of downpour, if you have to travel, try to travel, preferably, by main roads and highways at a moderate speed.
If you are in the field, move away from the base of the hills, where you may be surprised by the water that falls on your hillsides.
It is also important to locate the high points of the area where you are, as you may need to address them in case of possible flooding.
