The play El Lazarillo de Tormes, from the El Duende de Lerma company, on Saturday, raised the curtain on the XV edition of the Paco Rabal Amateur Theater National Contest.
A contest that- emphasized the mayor of Culture, Lucia Hernandez- "we must thank, especially, the public that with their presence and response has made it possible that this contest has not only been maintained for fifteen years, but also that it has grown to become in reference within the national amateur theater competitions ".
During opening ceremony, presented by Alonso Paredes and Inés López, the mayor of Culture also said that "this event has two priority objectives: on the one hand, keep alive the memory of the great Paco Rabal and, on the other, bring the theater to the public by betting for the representation of high quality works at popular prices ".
The contest will continue on Saturday with the work Hécuba de Eurípides in charge of the Theater Classroom of the University of Alicante.
Continuing with the theatrical scope, the weekend also served for the inauguration of Off Rabal;
a festival of scenic arts, directed by Fran Giménez, which for the fourth consecutive year takes place in parallel to the theater competition.
