Águilas will host a day of tribute to Luis Siret organized by the Department of Culture, the permanent headquarters of the University of Murcia in Águilas and the Friends Association of the Archaeological Museum of Águilas.
The activities in memory of this Belgian archaeologist whose remains rest in the municipal cemetery of Águilas will take place from 9:30 in the morning until 13:00 on Saturday, October 27;
It will be precisely in the aquiline cemetery where the day will start and then, at 10.30 am, to present the permanent headquarters of the University of Murcia in Águilas, during an event that will be held by the mayor of Culture, Lucía Hernández, and the director of the Universidad del Mar, Jorge Novella.
Then the dissertations "Prehistory in Águilas and its relationship with Luis Siret" will be carried out by the municipal archaeologist, Juan de Dios Hernández;
"Juan Cuadrado Ruiz: an Almerian for history" whose speaker will be UMU professor of prehistory, Ignacio Martín Lerma;
"New cultural group of the Bronze Age in the Spanish Levante", in which the director of the municipal museum Jerónimo Molina and municipal archaeologist of Jumilla, Emiliano Hernández, and the doctor in archeology Estefanía Gandía will participate;
and "Living and dying in Lorca 4000 years ago" by the director of the municipal archaeological museum of Lorca Andrés Martínez.
The events will end with a visit to the castle of San Juan de las Aguilas and a walk along the coast in the boat Don Pancho.
