The mayor, Mari Carmen Moreno, and the mayor of Cementerios, Isabel Fernández, visited this morning the cemetery of the town where they have made various actions for the celebration of All Saints Day, date on which is expected a massive influx of people to the cemetery of the town.
The usual tasks of cleaning and clearing the plots and maintenance actions based on minor works and painting have been joined this year by other improvement actions, specifically the installation of two situation panels that facilitate the search of concrete graves.
On this matter, the mayor of Cemeteries said that "we had perceived that those people who do not visit the cemetery regularly, at times, found it difficult to find specific points of the cemetery so we believe that these plans will be of great help."
Another novelty that the visitors of the cemetery will find this year is the installation of two floral arches installed in the access doors with the inscription "In memory of all the deceased, we have reserved a space in our hearts" with which the City Council he wants to pay homage to all the deceased whose remains rest in the aquiline cemetery.
Apart from these actions, during the visit, both the mayor and the councilor of the area have pointed out that "although it is true that every year at this time a fine-tuning of the place is made, the goal we have from the Department is to keep the cemetery in perfect condition throughout the year. "
Thus, they recalled that in these three years much work has been done in the municipal cemetery in which, among other actions, a Comprehensive Rehabilitation Project has been launched consisting of the arrangement and cleaning of the roofs;
the rehabilitation of some 600 niches that were in very poor condition;
an action on the access road to the cemetery and also on the interior and exterior walls, complete with an integral rehabilitation of the exterior façade;
the improvement of the drainage system in order to repel moisture in the ossuary area;
and the replacement of all the elements that were broken both in the autopsy room and in the janitor's office.
Likewise, more than 200 niches have been built;
an image of the Patron of Eagles has been placed;
aluminum showers, portacoronas and escalators have been acquired that allow access to the highest areas safely;
and a surveillance system through cameras has been installed.
Actions, all of which have involved an investment of close to 700,000 euros in the last three years.
In the same way the City has agreed with the winning company of urban transport the expansion of bus lines.
Thus the circular line will provide days 31 and 1 a special service with departure every 30 minutes and stop at the door of the cemetery as well as line 1 whose periodicity will be every hour.
It will also activate a special security device with a reinforcement by Local Police, as well as auxiliary security personnel.
