With the aim of betting on full and effective integration and- pointed out the mayor of the town, Mari Carmen Moreno- "from the conviction that we are all the same regardless of the personal situation of each one", the City Council of Águilas approved unanimously of the Plenary the I Plan of Inclusion of the People with Disabilities of Eagles.
A document in which the Águilas City Council, in collaboration with the Committee of Representatives of People with Disabilities (CERMI), the National Organization of the Blind (ONCE) and the different associations and institutions of the town's social health area, has worked during the last year and that - said the first mayor - has specific objectives distributed in ten areas of work: information and awareness, universal accessibility, education, training, employment, health, participation, leisure, culture, social services and personal autonomy.
This I Plan, with a validity of four years, is based on three fundamental elements: the development of coordinated and transversal actions aimed at achieving full inclusion;
the analysis of reality through the collection of information;
and an operational part that includes specific objectives and actions.
It should be noted that the actions are specified in annual action programs that will be monitored by the Municipal Disability Council, a sector participation body that will facilitate the participation of people with disabilities and their families in the public affairs of the municipality.
"The commitment to the real integration of people with disabilities is a commitment of this Government Team, aware of the barriers that many citizens of Águilas face every day, although there are several actions that we have already put in place, For example, the creation of inclusive parks or the Family Respite Program consisting of the opening of summer schools for children with educational needs, we believe that coordinating all these actions through this Inclusion Plan and doing it, in addition, through partnerships and collectives will be an important step towards equality of opportunities, eliminating the conditions of exclusion in which people with disabilities frequently find themselves, "Moreno concluded.
