The mayor of Águilas, Mari Carmen Moreno, next to the mayor of Tourism, Ginés Desiderio Navarro, the senior employer of the Fishermen's Association, Manuel Díaz, and other members of the Municipal Corporation visited this morning the Nao Victoria, one of the ships most famous in history, which arrived yesterday at the port of Águilas where it will remain moored until next November 18.
It is the replica of the legendary ship that between 1519 and 1522 managed to make the greatest maritime adventure in history: the First Tour of the World, captained by Magallanes and Elcano.
An expedition that lasted 3 years and 14 days, in which 32,000 nautical miles (78,000 km) were navigated, and that for the first time in history surrounded the planet, navigating its great oceans and making the world known in all its dimension .
During the visit, the municipal authorities, accompanied by the regional media, have been able to discover all the secrets of this faithful historical replica of 26 m.

Its stopover in Águilas is part of the great tour that is being carried out this year by ports in Spain, to spread the V Centennial of the First World Tour whose great commemoration begins in 2019, within the framework of the activities of the National Commission constituted for this event.
The arrival of the Nao Victoria to Águilas is preceded by the success that the Galeón Andalucía already had in its previous visit, which in the week that remained in our town, last January, achieved the record of European visits with a number of visitors - noted from the Nao Victoria Foundation - "that has not yet been surpassed in any other port in Europe."
