A total of 90 kilos were the micro-garbage removed from the beach of La Carolina and its surroundings by participants in the Mares Circulares program that the Chelonia association, in collaboration with the Coca Cola Foundation and the universities of Madrid, Valencia and Cádiz
An initiative developed in Águilas, a municipality selected among 80 locations in Spain and Portugal to be part of this project, with the aim of contributing to the reduction of impacts of marine litter, promoting the shift towards a circular economy (which seeks to maintain value of products and resources as long as possible within the economy, minimizing the generation of waste).
The cleaning activity, which was supported by the Águilas City Council, was preceded by a training and awareness-raising event in which 400 high school students participated.
Fraction and separation of collected micro-garbage:
Yellow container-Light packaging: 23.93 kilos.
Green container-Glass: 20 kilos.
Blue container-Paper and cardboard: 0.3 kilos.
Gray Container: 10.17 kilos.
Clean point - Rubber and plastic: 10.4 kilos.
Clean point - Wood worked: 0.13 kilos.
Clean point- Construction debris: 13.58 kilos.
