The mayor of Águilas and general secretary of the local PSOE, Mari Carmen Moreno, will again be the mayoral candidate with which the aquiline socialists will attend the local elections next year after having been unanimously backed by the aquiline militants.
Moreno has been head of the City Hall of Aguilas City Council since 2015 and in these four years he has bet clearly to fulfill the commitment "to work in the legislature of the people".
Thus, among the most outstanding projects include the creation of a Bank of Books that has been running in the town since September 2015, the opening of school canteens during the summer for children at risk of social exclusion, the implementation of the Family Respite Program for children with special educational needs or the recent creation of the I Inclusion Plan for Persons with Disabilities.
In the same way it should be noted that during this term the current socialist mayor of Águilas has fulfilled the ten priority commitments included in the contract by Águilas, among which are: Reduction of the salary of the mayor and her councilors by 10%.
Reduction of the trust staff of the Mayor's office by 50% and removal of the official car.
Reduction of the IBI and the circulation tax, also offering payment facilities.
Participation of residents in the municipal plenaries and online broadcasting to reach the entire world or end the abandonment and exclusion of aquiline companies in public procurement, favoring their participation in transparent competitions, among others.
Finally, it is worth mentioning the impetus given to the General Plan for Urban Planning and the creation of sectoral tables in the areas of Local Trade, Agriculture and Tourism.
