The safety of people is a vital element for Águilas City Council, so from the STV Gestión concessionary company, in coordination with the Consistory, in-depth reviews are being made of the different ficus specimens located in the Plaza de España.
"We have considered that it is necessary to continue revising with intensity and professionalism these magnificent specimens that receive so many visits every day, for which we have an expert with European certification that through different systems such as climbing or access with a crane truck will study these copies and detect if there is to do some action not only for its structural improvement but also for aesthetic reasons ", explains the mayor of Service Provider Companies, Isabel Fernández.
This technique allows access to all corners of the sample, in this case more than 20 meters, since with the trepa you can check the 'heart of the specimen' and its different branches.
During the revision, for which the place has been closed for security reasons, it will be inspected that there is no type of dry branch, in poor condition, levers or with any type of damage.
"Increasing, even more if possible, the state of security that these copies have continuously in a central square like that of Spain", underlines Fernandez.
