The mayor, accompanied by the president and the director of the association ASTEAMUR, the mayor of commerce and the president of ACIA Águilas, presented this morning the project "TEA Shopping Help me to buy".
In this project of cognitive accessibility for people with autism or asperger's syndrome, accessibility measures are taken to businesses such as pictography or signage of the activity of the establishments, an adapted plan indicating the streets and shops to try facilitate the time of purchase.
Black Friday and the Christmas holidays are approaching and, with them, purchases with a large clientele, which can generate an amalgam of stimuli and noises that alter the perception and behavior of people with ASD, something that, with adequate signaling and An anticipation of what they will find in these spaces, greatly reduces their anxiety and confusion, while allowing greater autonomy of movement within them.
Thanks to this project and using this information, users of the ASTEAMUR headquarters in Águilas, will carry out practices with the maps and posters of the shops and, accompanied by the therapeutic team, will make purchases to implement all these measures.
"This accessibility activity is included within the activities foreseen in the recently approved I Plan for the Inclusion of People with Disabilities, with the aim of betting on full and effective integration - said the mayor of the town, Mari Carmen Moreno- from the conviction that we are all equal regardless of the personal situation of each one ",
In Águilas there are 15 families that belong to this association that can benefit from the program that is going to establish very soon in the shops of the most central area of ​​the municipality, with the intention in the near future to reach all shops so that Águilas can continue adapting to the needs of all.
This project is subsidized by the Águilas City Council and has the collaboration of ACIA.
Pictograms, informative brochures have been prepared and an awareness campaign is being carried out among the employees of the participating shops.
