The president of the Community, Fernando López Miras, attended today the gala to mark the 50th anniversary of the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) of Águilas, where he put in value "the work of this association in the prevention and support of research on this disease in the Region of Murcia "and remarked" the collaboration between the AECC and the regional government to focus on what is really important, which are people "
In Spain, cancer is the second cause of death behind diseases of the circulatory system.
In the Region, the most common cancers are those of the colon, prostate, lung and breast.
The survival rate already reaches 60 percent of the diagnoses.
"In 2019 we will allocate 4 out of 10 euros of our budgets to Health," said López Miras, who explained that the accounts of the Autonomous Community include an increase of 57 million euros compared to 2018 to reduce waiting lists and improve Primary Care
He also referred to the construction of the Comprehensive Center for High Resolution of Eagles, which also has a budget in 2019, "which will allow patients to gain in comfort and efficiency", as in a single visit may be served by several specialists and undergo surgery without admission.
The regional network of High Resolution Comprehensive Centers, which will be based in Murcia, Águilas, Jumilla and at the Santa María del Rosell hospital in Cartagena, will involve developing a new health model with more and better benefits for the user and will allow to reduce the lists waiting and improve the assistance to patients with chronic diseases.
