The Cultural Association of Fishing "City of Urci" celebrated last Saturday the "Silver Wedding" of its "XXV Social Championship".
At the dinner and ceremony of trophies were gathered nearly a hundred members and family members who gave their 25 years of experience in aquiline sport fishing.
José María Paredes Robles, "Morito", obtained the prized "Golden Eagle" when he proclaimed himself champion, at the same time that he won the award for the "greatest number of pieces" with 370 captures.
The runner-up was Fran Miras Asensio, young promise of sport fishing in our Region.
And the award to the "major piece", a croaker of almost a kilo, went to the showcases of José Luis Morillas, while Máximo Navarrete took third place.
Likewise, during the gala dinner, companies ETT Más Empleo, Autocares Alcázar and Agroespuña were also given gifts for their patronage with the "City of Urci" during its quarter-century of existence.
The El Rubial Bar, headquarters of the association, was also presented with a gift, as was La Chimenea Restaurant, which was hosting this event for the first time.
The board of directors had some words of thanks for the presenter of the event, Paco Escámez, for his collaboration in the awards ceremonies of the Social Championships, as well as for the "Pescathón Playas de Águilas" that takes place every year in the month of August.
The deputy mayor of Águilas City Council, Tomás Consentino, the Councilor for Sports, Cristóbal Casado and the Lieutenant Civil in Águilas, Joaquín Guillamón, were in charge of delivering the prizes, trophies and gifts, together with the president of the association, Cristóbal López, and the members of its board of directors, Sebastián Lorca, Ginés Sánchez, José López and Pedro Castro.
They also attended this festival of sport fishing Antonio Asensio and Juan Morales, presidents of the invited associations, "Villa de Águilas" and "City of Lorca", respectively.
