The Auditorium and Palace of Congresses Infanta Doña Elena welcomes, until next May 12, the exhibition Gustavo Gillman, engineer and photographer.
Eagles in their objective (1889-1912).
The exhibition, which includes an interesting collection of photographs from the General Archive, was inaugurated last Friday at an event attended by the mayor of the town, Mari Carmen Moreno;
the mayor of Culture, Lucía Hernández;
the municipal archivist, Pepi Navarro;
the great-grandson of the British engineer, Juan Roberto Gillman;
and the curators of the exhibition, Javier Castillo and José Fernando Vázquez.
Gillman worked in the south of Spain in different railway companies and during twenty-five years he had his residence in Águilas, period in which he built the emblematic mineral wharf in the bay of El Hornillo.
With a great culture and plastic sensibility, he captured thousands of snapshots with his camera that offer information not only on aspects related to engineering but also of the society of the time.
