Representatives of Ecovidrio, the non-profit organization in charge of the management of the recycling of glass packaging waste in Spain, and the City of Águilas, delivered this morning in the Consistory of the awards of the campaign "It says Don Carnal, recycles glass in Carnival ".
This initiative was launched to promote the recycling of glass containers among hoteliers, festeros and visitors.
The campaign, which is part of environmental awareness initiatives to improve glass recycling rates in the municipality, has had the active participation of the 45 catering establishments in the central area (Plaza España and surrounding streets), which have For example, the days of Carnival carrying out a responsible management of glass packaging waste.
The innkeepers received a participation for the drawing of three lots of products from the land for each glass cube that they delivered to the eco-patrol of Ecovidrio.
The winning establishments were: Level 44, Persi Rock and Gentleman.
The campaign, which ran from March 1 to March 5, has had several educators who, apart from helping the hoteliers with the removal of glass, have informed and sensitized the festive and visitors about the importance of correctly separating the waste of glass containers to prevent them from being abandoned on the street.
In addition, they distributed whistles and invited all the participants of the party to take a photo in the photocall of the campaign to upload it to social networks with the hahstag #ReciclaVidrioEnCarnaval.
Glass recycling data in Águilas
According to the latest data available for 2018, the citizens of Águilas have recycled a total of 794,960 kilograms of waste from glass containers.
This means that each citizen recycled an average of 22.7 kilograms of glass.
This figure represents an increase of 56,620 kg of glass containers, compared to the year 2017.
Regarding the containerization rate, Águilas is located with an average of 174 inhabitants per container, currently with a total of 201 igloos for glass packaging waste installed in the municipality.
