The policeman Rafa, as he is known among the aquiline children Rafael Ortiz said goodbye, recently, after twenty-four years at the head of the Education Department of Águilas;
a position he has held since 1994, raising awareness among several generations of school children of the importance of road safety.
There have been thousands of children, many of them already elderly, before whom Rafa has insisted tirelessly on the importance of the safety belt, the traffic lights or, in recent years, paying attention to the road and not the mobile when They are making trips.
A work with which - Rafa assured - "I tried to make children aware so that they assume a message that everyone knows but that is not always respected".
Today, twenty-four years after the implementation of the Road Safety Cabinet and after the retirement of Rafael Ortiz, the management teams of all the schools in the town have wanted to pay tribute to him for his important work, in the course of an act held at the City Hall where the mayor of the town, Mari Carmen Moreno, has also been present.
