"We want economically and socially sustainable fishing, capable of anchoring the population to the fishing municipalities of our region," says orange candidate Miguel Garaulet
Ciudadanos has included in its electoral program the boost of the fishing sector, "with a commitment to sustainable fishing from the environmental point of view, but also from the economic and social, a fishing capable of anchoring the population to the coast and its municipalities" .
This has been confirmed by the candidate for the Congress Miguel Garaulet, who has held a meeting this morning in Águilas with representatives of fishermen's associations in the region, which has also been joined by the candidate -and aquiline- José Luis Martínez.
"It is necessary to develop a National Plan for Aquaculture, so that this type of exploitation does not collide with other forms of fishing, but it must also make the zero discard more flexible, which is not problematic for large vessels, but for the few crew - like most of the Region - is complicated ", added Garaulet.
In his opinion, a key to guarantee the renewal and general relief in the sector will be the promotion of Dual Vocational Training for sailors and skippers, "but while achieving this goal, it is necessary to make flexible the hiring of crew members from outside Spain, because today there are not enough ".
