The mayor of Águilas, Mari Carmen Moreno, and the president of the Peñas de Carnaval Federation, José Alonso, recently carried out the signing of a collaboration agreement for the maintenance and renovation of the future Carnival Museum
During the ceremony, the mayor of the town stressed that "after the completion of the works we are already in the process of awarding the musealization project that will be the one that will provide this space with content".
In the same line, the first mayor assured that the Carnival Museum, which will be located on the first floor of the Francisco Rabal House of Culture, "could not be a reality without the commitment of the Federation of Peñas for maintenance and renovation continue this space. "
The objective of the Carnival Museum is to make known to all visitors the most important festival in the town, declared of International Tourist Interest in 2015. Regarding its location, in the House of Culture, it has been chosen for two reasons : its excellent location, central and accessible, as well as the fact that the opening of it will not involve an extra expense in personnel, since the House of Culture has controllers responsible for its daily opening and closing.
Also, referring to the content to be offered, the mayor said that "it will try to be present all the elements that make our party of International Tourist Interest unique, so there will be a part dedicated to rocks, paper costumes, characters of the Carnival, the cuerva and, as it could not be of another way, the corner of the bullfight, so tied to the origin of our Carnival ".
For his part, the president of the Federation of Peñas said that "having a museum for our party, which is also located in a central location, was totally necessary for our Carnival."
