The Popular Party maintains a meeting with more than one hundred farmers to inform them of the concrete measures they include in their electoral program

Achieve a social price of water, that is the main objective that has been marked the candidate of the Popular Party to the mayor of Águilas, Eva Reverte, in order to ensure the survival and maintenance of agriculture in the municipality.

"Águilas has guaranteed water through the desalination plants, but not all that is needed and we can not give up on the creation of a National Hydrological Plan, where our irrigations are taken into account to obtain cheaper water," Reverte said.

These statements were made yesterday in the context of a meeting with more than a hundred farmers in the town that took place in La Marina de Cope and attended by the current Minister of Water and Agriculture, Miguel Angel del Amor. Reverte noted that, now more that never, it is necessary the joint work with the farmers for the defense of the sector, as one of the fundamental pillars of the aquiline economy.

IBI bonus, roads and European programs

In this regard, he explained that his electoral program includes specific actions that will lead to an improvement in production processes.

Specifically, Reverte said that "we will defend a taxation consistent with the profitability of small and medium farmers, as well as a fair return of European programs associated with the Common Agricultural Policy."

In addition, "we will urgently implement a plan for the maintenance and clearing of rural roads, given the state of total abandonment they have reached after these four years of socialist government," said Reverte, adding that "measures will also be implemented. to facilitate the management of waste of agricultural origin with special attention to plastics and microplastics, thus integrating European programs.

One of the proposals also explained Reverte is the reduction of the rustic IBI by lowering the tax rate in order to apply bonuses in the contribution for infrastructure of general interest such as, for example, hydraulic constructions, and with it the benefit of the agricultural sector.

Defense of the productive sector

For his part, the current Minister of Agriculture and Water, Miguel Angel del Amor, defended the policy on water of the Popular Party against socialist policies that "seek to change the production model and put an end to the hectares of agricultural production, the sector agriculture is one of the most important productive fabrics in the Region of Murcia, since it represents 20% of the Gross Domestic Product, and we must bet heavily on it, so from the PP is working to get a quality water, but at a reasonable price for agriculture.
